Professional Development Center (PDC)
The Professional Development Center (PDC) is a specialized center established to enhance the professional skills of university academic and administrative staff. This center provides academic staff members and administrative employees with specialized educational courses, workshops, training programs, and capacity-building opportunities in teaching, research, and professional development to broaden their competencies and improve their performance.
At Wardag University, the center operates under the supervision of vice chancellor of the Academic and Student Affairs. It was officially approved by the Ministry of Higher Education in 1401 (2022) and began its activities accordingly. So far, the center has successfully conducted more than 100 educational and training programs.
Administrative Structure of the Professional Development Center
Currently, the center’s organizational structure at Wardag University includes Pohanmal Abdul Basir Turabi as the Head of the Center and Mirwais Nazari as the General Manager, who are responsible for managing and implementing the center’s activities.
Objectives
- Enhancing the academic staff’s skills in modern technology, research, Outcome-Based Education and Student-Centered Learning (OBE-SCL) teaching methodologies.
- Strengthening the research capacity of academic staff members.
- Preparing training programs and workshops based on advanced international standards.
- Enhancing the management and leadership capacities of academic staff members.
- Promoting discussion and development of necessary professional advancements in academic and technical fields.
- Improving the working capacity of university employees.
Major Responsibilities of the Professional Development Center
- Implementing and managing professional training programs and supervising ongoing activities.
- Reporting the center’s activities to the university leadership, particularly the Academic Deputy Office.
- Managing and controlling the needs assessment process for academic staff training programs.
- Preparing identification lists of academic staff members for educational programs.
- Organizing short-term, medium-term, and long-term professional development programs for academic staff members.
